What are the indigenous cultures of Panama?


In Panama there are seven ethnic groups, and five comarcas, or indigenous districts, have been legally created.

 

• Embera and Wounaan: live in the province of Darién.


• Kuna: live on the islands of the Kuna Yala Comarca, Madungandi on Lake Bayano and Wargandi in the province of Darién.


• Ngobe and Bugle: live in the Ngobe and Bugle Comarca spread across the 3 provinces of Bocas del Toro, Veraguas and Chiriquí.


• Naso or Teribe: live on the border between Panama and Costa Rica.


• Bri-Bri: live on the border between Panama and Costa Rica.
