The 5.6% growth in tourism activity in Panama during 2013 is considered "very satisfactory" to the Deputy Administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority, Ernesto Orillac, according to official reports.

For the third consecutive year, Avianca and the Central American tourism industry have united to boost tourism in the region with the "Discover Central America" campaign.

In just the seven days left in April, Panama is set to hold 22 international events that will add an additional 39,309 nights in hotels in the country.

In the first two months of the year, an average of 65,000 tourists have disembarked cruise ships at Panamanian ports.

As of February this year, hotel occupancy was at 60.9%, an encouraging figure that adds to the hotel construction projects underway in Panama.
