Panama, Paradise Between Two Seas

This country is one of the most visited destinations of Latin America

Pacific, the beauty of nature is reflected on the ocean water.

Eighth wonder, crossing of a great ship in the Miraflores Locks is a show to be admired.

All this, makes this destination one of the most unforgettable countries.

The main city is its capital, Panama city, with appearance of a great metropolis and of captivating contrasts. With a population of almost 1.3 million of inhabitants, it has a modern airport that is considered to be the hub of Americas. It has countless modern skyscrapers, a historical center, an international network of banks, sophisticated stores and magnificent hotels.

The Panamanian night is quite lively and varied with clubs, refined pubs, discos, great restaurants and casinos that attract most of the foreign tourists.

These are some of the attributes that make the capital an attractive place for those who look for comfort, entertainment, culture and leisure.

The initial point to know the Panamanian capital is a visit to the Canal, that is just 15 minutes from downtown. In the Visitor’s Center, tourists watch an interesting documentary and learn about the whole history of the construction of that monumental work.

And still, if the visitor that has a little bit of patience will get to attend the crossing of a ship, in the Miraflores Locks, an extraordinary show that should not be missed.

Another tourist attraction to be visited is Panama Viejo, first city, founded in 1519 , with a tumbled area considered as World Heritage by Unesco. The tower of the Cathedral and other ruins of the colonial times. And also visit the old Center, second capital of Panama, founded in 1675 with constructions of Spanish and French styles.

The city of Panama is a true paradise of purchases, with products of the whole world and quite inviting prices. It has the largest concentration of shopping malls, and the first rate shops of the country.

Hotels

The country has great chain of hotels, such as Hilton, Starwood, Sheraton, Meliã Hotels International, Riu Hotels & Resorts and Trump Hotel Collection among others with forecasts of new openings and of reaching the goal of 24 thousand rooms this year.

The capital has great hotels as Hotel Riu Plaza Panama, with privileged location, close to the banks, shops, and shopping malls.

They are 35 floors with 645 apartments divided into several categories, all very spacious ones with sofa and work table, internet, TV with plain screen and modern bathroom totally equipped. It possesses 17 conference rooms with capacity for up to a thousand people. Its gastronomy is diversified with several restaurants, emphasis on Tastes, of fusion cusine.

Excellent facilities, a complete gym, a spa with treatments of health and beauty and an external swimming pool with jacuzzi-hydro massage bath are parts of the infrastructure of the hotel.

Royalton Luxury Resorts, located in Playa Blanca, in the Coclé province; Gamboa Rainforest Resort, complex of ecotourism on the banks of river Chagres and on the Canal and embedded in the National Park Soberania, abundant in flora and fauna.

In the resort, it is possible to make a cable car tour to the high of the hill, where there is an observation tower, it is possible to enjoy a beautiful view of the Canal, River Chagres and of an indigenous village, and Bristol Buena Aventura, that is 80 minutes from the Panamanian capital, all located on the Pacific coast, among others.

Panama beaches extend over 2.8 thousand kilometers of coastline, with more than a thousand of islets that adorn the coastline. There are many tourist attractions to explore in the Pacific side as well as on Caribbean coast, where it is the region of Bocas del Toro, with excellent beaches of clean and smooth water, large areas of forests, and a variety of birds, corals and aquatic life, with few comparisons in the world.

This is only a small sample of what this interesting country offers its visitors. Panama was chosen as the “Top Tourist Destiny of 2012 “ by the New York Times and National Geographic

The Brasilturis newspaper traveled, due to an invitation of the authority of Tourism of Panama (ATP) and with protection of the International Insurance Company, Coris.
