Santa Catalina

Santa Catalina is a beach known principally for its natural attractions, with surfers attracted to the very strong waves that are never lower than one meter high, the clarity of its water and the marine reserve found on this beach that permits scuba diving.

As one of the main points of access to Cébaco and Coiba Islands, boat services are offered for inter-island tours so that visitors may enjoy the company of dolphins playing in the foam left by passing boats.

The town and its surroundings have hotels, cabins, restaurants, bars and a super market to make necessary purchases when headed to enjoy the sea and its charms offered by the province of Veraguas, among the Top for tourist visits.

¿Getting there?

  • Car: From Panama City you have to take the Interamerican Highway, headed to Santiago de Veraguas, then go towards Soná. Just before Soná you will come to an intersection, where you turn right. Passing the town Los Tigres you will find a sign indicating the way to Santa Catalina, and from this point only 18 km remain before reaching your destination.
  • Bus: In the Albrook terminal, go to the Veraguas Province - Santiago booth to purchase a ticket. Or purchase a direct ticket to Soná for a fare of $8.50, and after reaching Soná transfer to a bus headed to Santa Catalina with departures at 5:00 am., 12:00 pm. and 4:00 pm.
  • Taxi: The taxi fare from Santiago to Santa Catalina is $50.00, or $30.00 from Soná.
