Between 70 and 120 tourists arrive daily to Colón Island in Bocas del Toro, and that is why the airlines Copa Airlines and Air Panama started operation of a flight that will link visitors from the Tocumen International Airport to the Caribbean region.
Copa Airlines CEO Pedro Heilbron said that the Bocas del Toro destination will be promoted by the Copa Vacations program. "Initially it will be promoted in Brazil, where we fly to 7 cities but will focus on large cities like Sao Paulo, and in Argentina, mainly in Buenos Aires and Córdoba, then we will bring it to other countries in South America."
The connecting flight will be operated by Air Panama and will be operated twice weekly. It will depart Tocumen on Thursday and Sunday at 10:30 am to arrive at Colón Island at 11:36 am, and will be only for foreign tourists.
Heilbron did not specify the flight price, but indicated that "the connection comes out practically free for them; it comes as a package deal for the same price that it would cost to go to another tourist destination in the Caribbean."
