Earnings from tourism activity has an 18% growth. From January to July, tourist spending in Panama reached $1,291 million, an increase of 197.2 million more than during the same period in 2011. This indicates that Panama has the most productive tourism in the region. The number of visitors in the same period grew by 5.4%. It is significant that at the Tocumen International Airport, the main port for Panamanian tourism, the growth was at 16.6%, with 872,184 visitors in these last seven months.
