They typically live in wallless straw huts with wooden floors, built on stilts for protection from animals and creatures of the jungle, as they are usually situated along river banks.

The Emberá live on the banks of the rivers Chucunaque, Tuira, Tupiza and Chico. They also live in the province of Panamá in Chagres, Mocambo Abajo, San Antonio, Gamboa and Emberá Gatún and Majé.

How to arrive?

Boat: The community can only be reached by crossing the vast Bayano reservoir, entering by the Maje River. They use wooden dugout canoes built from wild cashew, cedar, cedar hawthorn and yellow pine.
