Recipe: Grilled Patty Empanadas
Ingredients
4 cups flour
1/2 lb. butter
4 Tbsp. achiote
½ cup water
1 lb. ground beef
1 cup stale bread crumbs
1 large onion
Preparation
Mix the flour, salt, butter and water to form a dough, and let rest for a few minutes. Meanwhile, cook the meat with onions, stale bread, achiote and spices to taste in a pot. Once the meat is cooked, grind it. Tear off small pieces of the dough and roll them out until thin. Scoop the meat mixture onto the dough, and once filled, seal the edges with a fork to form the shape of an empanada pie. Bake until golden and ready to serve.
