On World Tourism Day, the Panama Tourism Authority promoted the web page VisitPanama to tourists in transit at the Tocumen International Airport and also at the Albrook airport.
The Secretary General of the ATP, Gabriela Antelo, described how young girls dressed in the traditional "La Pollera" costume of Panama and offering Panamanian sweets drew the attention of those passing by the tourism information desk in the duty free area of the airport. "Before boarding their flights, the passengers in this terminal could enjoy the folklore of our country."
VisitPanama.com is the official tourism website to promote tourism attractions in Panama. It has already reached 114,000 visits per month and expects to continue growing.
Five million passengers circulate through the airport annually, and the ATP has diverse strategies to make them stop here or return to visit Panama. Tourism has been growing by 6.4% during the first 8 months of the year.
