Freshly baked hot cornbread

Corn is utilized in several recipes in Panama. One is this delicious cornbread recipe, that is very simple to make and enjoyed by young and old. Cornbread is a moist and sweet bread with a crisp crust, an easy accompaniment to any meal.

Recipe: Corn Bread

Ingredients

1 cup yellow cornmeal

1 cup sweet creamed corn 

1 cup flour

3 Tbsp. baking powder

2 eggs

1 cup milk

1/3 cup honey

4 Tbsp. butter

Preparation

Combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder and creamed corn, mixing energetically until completely blended. Beat the eggs with the milk and butter. Add the wet mixture to the dry mix. Pour the batter into a greased round-shaped pan and bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out dry. Slice and serve warm.
