Dwayne Johnson will film “The Hero” in Panama

The Panama Film Commission continues to surprise us with excellent news, such as the announcement that renowned WWE wrestler Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson will shoot an episode of TNT's new series called "The Hero" in our country.

It should be noted that this program is a reality show with extreme competence, starring the legendary sensation of American wrestling.

Arianne M. Benedetti, director of the Panama Film Commission, released details to this newspaper that the filming will start in February and last approximately two months.

There will be a total of eight episodes, under executive production of Johnson himself, along with his producing partner Dany García. Its first episode is scheduled to air in July 2013.

"The Hero" will put 10 people together in a house and assign them missions that will put their intelligence, morality and bravery to the test. That is when 'The Rock' will serve as a mentor and motivator, encouraging the competitors to challenge their own limits.

In an interview with international media, Johnson stated: "Dany and I could not be more excited for our first venture into television production, and even more so with a program that talks about everything that I believe in. So our goal is to make every moment be exciting and shocking for those who are watching."

Benedetti stressed that this is a very important opportunity to sell the country's film potential, and she emphasized that more projects are being confirmed for 2013.

"We are very satisfied with the work that we have already secured. We do not give up on hoping that more film producers will be interested in recording here, in Panama," she explained.

The series will clearly also take advantage of Johnson's enormous influence on social media like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Viewers will be able to access the digital platform of the series to vote each week for the contestant whom they consider to be the most heroic.
