Aixa Santamaría, governor of the province, said that the aim is to sell the province of Chiriquí as a tourist destination, as well as other projects that will enable greater growth, for the benefit of all Panamanians.

Idu Ribeiro, president of the Chiriquí Chamber of Tourism, expressed that many positive changes have to take place in order to achieve this desired objective of becoming an attractive province for visitors. The expanded Airport Enrique Malek, which will be inaugurated shortly, will permit the arrival of international flights, representing a large economic impact for the province.

"We have to prepare the province to receive thousands of tourists and motivate people to visit one of the most important tourist destinations in Panama, but that implies details like construction of infrastructure at tourist and ecological sites, such as Barú volcano," said Ribeiro.

The project Chiriquí is great! will be presented at a hotel in the capital city with the objective of projecting this province as an opportunity for tourists to visit our attractions.
