With a 12% growth in its middle class, Panama was ranked as the nation with the third highest growth of this group in recent years, according to a report published yesterday in Washington, D.C., capital of the United States. The report also noted that this social sector grew by 50% in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The study, entitled "Economic Mobility and the Growth of the Middle Class in Latin America", was conducted by the World Bank.
Costa Rica, with a 15% growth of its middle class, reached first place in the region, and was followed by Mexico and Chile (tied at 13%), Panama (12%) and Honduras (11%).
