The awards ceremony was held on November 5 in Monterrey, Mexico, and five buildings from Panama participated as representation of the country's innovation in design and construction. Other participants in various categories included: Las Terrazas The Point (residential), Vista Mar tourism center (urbanism), Ancón Insurance Tower (institutional) and the north wing of the expanded terminal at Tocumen International Airport (infrastructure).
The CEMEX is an annual award that seeks to encourage the development of a culture of innovation in the construction industry and to reward the talent and creativity of work done around the world in areas of design and architecture. The best buildings in 13 countries are selected and the most outstanding in the four categories of residential, institutional, industrial and infrastructure, and urbanism are recognized. In the 2012 competition there were 634 buildings from 13 different countries.
