Eurolat looking to closely cooperate

José Ignacio Salafranca Sánchez-Neyra, European Deputy Co-Chairman of the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (Eurolat), is visiting Panama with the aim of solidifying the ties between Latin America and Europe.

The permanent headquarters of the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino) in the area of Amador in Panama City is currently under construction but over 70% completed, with an investment of $12.5 million. A statement by the organism makes note that Salafranca Sánchez-Neyra will take advantage of his visit to tour the site.

During his stay in Panama, the European Parliament member met with the Panama deputy and president of Parlatino, Elías Castillo, to exchange ideas about the future plans to strengthen the cooperation between the two continents.

The Parlatino is an organism comprised of 13 working committees and 23 member countries that incorporate its laws. The committees are responsible for proposing legislation that must be discussed and agreed upon before being converted into legal reality in each of the member countries.
