Election of the Queen of Carnival of the City
On the evening of Tuesday, January 8, was the election of the Queen of the Carnival of the City, themed "Discovery" this year.

The ten contestants vying for the crown did their best, but as every contest must have a winner, on this occasion 

Virginia Hernandez was chosen as the sovereign queen for these carnivals in the capital. This event was held at the Anayansi Theater in Atlapa, starting at 8:00 p.m.

The Carnival will be held on the Coastal Strip and the theme is to remind the attendees of the V Centenary of Balboa's crossing of the Darién, when he discovered the South Sea. Panama will celebrate this grand feat in different ways throughout 2013.
