Currently it is the only museum in Panama that specializes in contemporary art and with the most important heritage of artwork by Panamanian artists of our era.
The museum is a private entity whose operation is supported and sponsored by enterprises and art aficionados.
Collection
Consisting of some 650 works of art, the MAC collection contains artwork dated from before 1962, allowing a comprehensive overview of all the styles in the twentieth century. The collection includes a full range of techniques, from painting, sculpture, graphics and photography to the most recent installations and videos. It features artwork by prominent artists, both Panamanian and Latin American.
Activities for all ages
In addition to exhibitions of the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions of national and international artwork, the museum offers guided tours for school groups, seminars on art appreciation and history and educational workshops and classes on graphics, drawing and painting. The MAC also has a gift shop and a framing workshop.
