Corpus Christi Festival

Corpus Christi, which has been celebrated since colonial times, is a religious fair with a folk element. One of the main attractions of this festival is the beautiful floral decorations that carpet the ground where the Christ image will pass in procession, accompanied by traditional dance groups.

Over the years, more folkloric dance performances have become incorporated on the day dedicated to tourism.

A parade of dancers include the dirty devils, devil dancers, devil mejorana dancers, devil cumbia dancers, toletón dancers and more. Costumed characters such as The Goat and The Mona run through the crowds pulling pranks and giving visitors a frightful but playful welcome each year.
