It also seeks to promote Panama golf courses at an international level, with an ambitious plan to turn Panama into a major tourist hub centered on golfing, which would bring benefits for the entire country's economy.
Furthermore, it will serve to raise the funds required to finance the activities the Panama Golf Group has planned for the whole year.
This tournament will be held on five different dates from March to July on five of the best golf courses in Panama that fulfill the technical requirements and meet international standards.
The golf players will accumulate their scores during the first three dates (in the Medal Play individual format), thus classifying the top golfers in each category who will go on to the final round.
They will play in the categories A (0-9), B (10-17) and C (18-24), seeking maximum equality and participation.
Number of players: 108 per tournament.
The winners will receive great prizes valued at over $5,000 and direct qualification for the final round of the Infogolf Mexico Tour 2013 (with hotel, transportation, meals and tournament fee all paid for).
Awards: 1 gross and 2 net (per category), Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive. In the final round, two players will be awarded per category based on gross score.
On each tournament date, a representative of the Panama Golf Group, a representative of the Fairway magazine and a representative of the main tournament sponsor will inspect and evaluate the golf course on 25 different criteria, from the greens and fairways to food or sponsorship contribution to the Tour.
The participating golfers will also be given a survey to give a score to the golf course. At the end of the tournament, the results of both evaluations (weighted 60% the organizations and 40% the players) will be announced. The winning course will be awarded a "Best Golf Course on Panama Medal Tour 2013" trophy and put in charge of organizing the next year's tournament final round. As part of the prize, this golf course will also receive advertising in all of the events sponsored by Panama Golf Group, PTYGolf and Fairway.
