Colón, the coast invaded by pirates. In the walls of the magnificent forts built by the Spanish conquerors in Portobelo in the uppermost coast of Colón, the cannons still face the Caribbean Sea from where came the pirate and corsair attacks who invaded in sarch of the awesome treasures held by the conquerors. Today, the splendid sea of the Colón coast is offered for the enjoyment of the Caribbean sun drinking refreshing coconut water or scuba diving or snorkeling among the coral reefs rich in colorful schools of fish. This experience is complimented with the exquisite cuisine of the islanders, specifically the delicious octopus prepared according to ancient recipes, accompanied by the traditional coconut and rice.
