St. Wilgefortis sailed in procession around Mensabé port

For the fifth consecutive year, the community of Las Tablas, in the province of Los Santos, held an aquatic procession to celebrate the start of the novenas in honor of St. Wilgefortis.

Edison Quintero, who is helping put on the religious festival for this patron saint, commented that the activity is done in remembrance of the saint's arrival to the Port of Mensabé with the Spaniards in 1671.

The priest of the Santa Librada church, Belisario Barría, led a Mass in her honor and then joined the saint's procession from the aforementioned port to the Urán pond.

This year's festival included the participation of the Las Tablas Naval Air Force and local artists from the region.
