More than one hundred thousand dollars have been spent in building new tourist lodging, solar panels and marine transportation. Today, the ecological reserve is equipped to accommodate all of its visitor’s needs.
 
The protected areas are natural havens where visitors have the opportunity to relax. It’s also a great place for to those who wish to find themselves.

Coiba is the perfect setting for anyone with an adventurous spirit. There are sunny, sandy beaches with mangroves, mudflats, rivers with vegetation, natural trails, forests and mountains of medium altitude. Also a group of more than thirty islands, islets, lakes and other marine formations to observe, tour, navigate and to even scuba dive in. But also below the sea’s surface there is marvelous scenery worthy of visiting. This diverse terrain offers various formations like canals, coral structures and reef walls, which offer the swimmer an amazing sight. There is also great biodiversity with endemic, migratory and other species that are guests of this archipelago. But in order for the tourists to be able to perform any activity or even visit this site, the tourists require certain facilities that will enable them to enjoy it peacefully and safely, and then dedicate their full attention to contemplating the scenic beauty of this area.
 
Therefore, the Coiba National Park, has initiated a building construction program that provides tourist access as well as safety. One of the first efforts was completely changing the existing electrical system for the installation of solar panels to reduce energy consumption. The whole system has been upgraded at a cost of $ 28,500 USD to ensure continuous flow of electricity and taking into account the use of this nonrenewable resource. Also several cabins to be used as tourist lodging were updated for this use at a cost of $ 47,700 USD.
 
This facility was funded by the Tourism Authority of Panama at a cost of $ 62,000 USD. Santiago Rojas, administrator of Coiba National Park, informed that these installations will allow the tourists to comfortably conduct their activities. It will also enable the forest rangers to offer hospitality and attention to them. Coiba National Park is the largest protected area in the country and maybe the most complete due to its terrain’s diversity and ecosystems which enable the national population, as well as tourists, a richness and assortment of areas to be in touch with nature and its biodiversity. In 2010, Coiba National Park had 8,388 visitors, consisting of: students, national visitors and international tourists. The total sum collected from the entrance fees was $165,311 USD with 30 cents.
