Dutch Keys

Dutch Keys Lucio Lopez/Pecari Tours
This is one of the most impressive archipelagos in the world as well as its spectacular barrier reef with its 200 miles of coastline in the Caribbean Sea.

It is a two hour motor boat ride to the first island of the Dutch Keys.  As the trip progresses, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the keys.

Morodup Island is the last one in the keys. “Moro is an animal that resembles the turtle, although it is bigger than the turtle.” In Spanish it would be Isla de Moro. Years ago, the kunas had moros as pets.

It’s about a 45 minutes ride from the first island to the last one.
Galubir Island is the biggest one in this area. The name means island of the spirits or land of the spirits.

The guides offer trips to different nearby islands as well as snorkeling in the same island. Or you can simply enjoy the tranquility on a hammock being swayed by the wind or getting a sun tan.

The trip can last all day if one stops on every island. All of these islands are in front of the Caribbean Sea, at night the crashing of the waves is heard…

The majority of these islands are uninhabited. Camping tents are needed to live a Survivor style experience in these islands.
The Dutch Keys waters are filled with barracuda, mackerel, grouper, snapper, fish of different sizes, lobster, turtle, octopus, squid, mollusks and a variety of life forms year round.

The site is ideal for camping and walks around the reefs. This is a virgin area that has remained untouched from exploitation for tourism purposes.
