This advancement has successfully allowed Iberia to gain positions within the Panamanian market. Currently, the market quota within both countries, Panama and Iberia, has reached 69%, compared to 64% from one year ago. The Iberia market quota has had a similar increase of flights between Europe and Panama, which has risen from 30% in 2010 to 34% in 2011. A year ago, Iberia started its direct flights between Panama and Madrid, and in order celebrate this first anniversary, Iberia has launched a promotion price to fly to Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, London, Roma, among other European countries. “The balance of this first year has been excellent. We have exceeded expectations and want to share our happiness with all our clients by offering them more competitive fares,” she concluded.
Iberia brings 90,000 travelers to Panama
Approximately 90,000 travelers have flown through the Panama-Madrid route during one year. The statistics state there has been an increment of 54% travelers in the last 12 months, according to Maria Fernandez, Director-General of Iberia in Central America. Fernandez also stated that “the Panama-Madrid route has had the biggest increase of all Iberia flight routes —which is notable within a period of atony in the flight sector— as well as the success of the operation encouraging Iberia to continue increasing flights to Panama in the near future.”
