Launching Panama City Carnival 2012 "La Jumbo Rumba"

On Wednesday, January 18th, the Tourism Authority officially launched the Panama City Carnival "La Jumbo Rumba," which will be held from February 17th through February 22nd, in Cinta Costera, for convenience and safety of domestic and international visitors.

During a press conference, the work done to strengthen the surveillance with the different security sectors was unveiled: increasing the number of entrances to Cinta Costera, utilizing the Pele Police and special entrances for disable people, retiree, and seniors.

Regarding the shows, visitors will be able to experience the traditional Culeco, main stage for big performances, and stage of remembrance as well as an additional stage for special events. Additionally, there will be a free area for families with young children.

Parades will also be taking place during the four of carnival, with colorful floats showing the Panamanian history and traditions as well as the traditional ‘popular’ troupes.

In the press conference, held at the Atlapa Convention Center’s La Huaca Theater, seven candidates will be presented, aspiring to be the Queen of the Carnival 2012. The Queen will be elected next Tuesday, January 24th at 7:00 P.M. in the Anayansi Theater. 1 queen and 2 princesses will be elected at the event.
