Arrivals through Tocumen increased 12%

Last year, 65 percent of tourists entered the country through the Tocumen International Airport, consolidating the airport as the main port of entry for visitors.

1,300,392 visitors entered Panama through Tocumen, representing an increase of 12.7% compared with statistics from 2010.

A reason for this increase is the arrival of new airlines and increased frequencies, mainly from Europe.

174, 475 visitors entered Panama through the border of Paso Canoa, an increment of 14.9% from last year.

Although Central American tourist arrivals recorded a 4% decrease in 2011, tourist arrivals from other countries, as Americans and Europeans, increased through Paso Canoa.

Regarding cruise ships ports, the cruise ship activity showed an increase of 29.6%, with 429,275 passengers.
