Of all the branches of the tourist industry, tourism focused on the beaches is forecasted to have one of the best projections for 2012.
As an indication of this important tourism boom, hotel businesses note that during this season the hotels, especially along the Pacific, are almost all booked.
Meetings between senior leaders of the tourism industry are just starting. On March 7th, representatives from different countries will meet in the ITB in Berlin, Germany.
Among the topics to be addressed at one of the major European trade fairs is the importance of the creation of tourist routes to strengthen the products supply from the Silk Road, as well as attract investment.

Merged in October 2010 for $3 billion dollars, Continental and United Airlines aspire to become the number one worldwide.
Rolf Meyer, Regional Director for Panama and the Andean region of United, explained about the plans that the company has in order to reach this purpose.
With the arrival of more than two million tourists annually, business opportunities and the emergence of many short-stay accommodations (hostels) are more evident, particularly in areas that were historically classified as exclusive residential areas
San Francisco, El Cangrejo, Vía Argentina and the Banking Area were included in the hostel project, despite the increasing number of hotel projects that annually open their doors in the country.
There are 15 hotels under constructions in the Capital City, and the largest one, Hard Rock Hotel, will be inaugurated in April.

2011 was a positive year for the Panamanian tourism in all aspects, as the barrier of two million visitors (in one year) was surpassed for the first time. Therefore, Panama is now considered as a top tourist destination, and not just as a transshipment point.
In addition to this growth in term of tourists, investment in lodging establishments has also registered a positive impact.
