Although its inhabitants and investors prefer to speak of sustained growth, rather than economic growth, progress in Chitré has not stopped in the last five years; if anything, it is advancing at a more aggressive pace.
Tourism continues to grow in Panama, as reflected in figures provided by the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP). They reveal that from January to March this year a total of 652,470 visitors have entered the country, a 5.3% increase over the same period in 2012, which means 32,999 additional tourists.
Panama will be promoting itself as a tourist destination for business, shopping and leisure during the Latin America Word Travel Market (WTM) fair, which opened today in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo.
The Panama Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (CCIAP) ended the thirtieth Expocomer and deemed it a total success, as José Luis Ford, current president of the Chamber, stated in a press conference, where he also highlighted how this important event made significant contributions to the economies of both Panama and the exhibitor countries that participated in this important international trade show.
On April 16 and 17, 2013, the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) participated in the Citizen Participation Government Fair, held at the Omar Torrijos Herrera stadium in the city of Santiago, province of Veraguas.
