This year, the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) will promote Panamanian tourist destinations collectively with Avianca-Taca. In recent years, the ATP has performed promotional caravans with Panamanian Copa Airlines, primarily in South America, but will also do it with Avianca-Taca.

Medical tourism is a term initially coined by travel agencies and the mass media to describe the rapidly-growing practice of travelling across international borders to obtain health care. This activity has been developing in Panama for the past few years. However, there is no regulation or duly established legal framework to regulate it.

More than 600 triathletes

Panama City, Panama played host to the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Panama on Sunday, February 12, 2012, with a $75,000 professional prize purse and 1,500 KPR points. This past weekend's race served as the first Latin American Pro Ironman 70.3 Championships and attracted strong professional fields to do battle in Central America.
