The students are already taking the third module and will finish by the end of May 
 
Unos 542 jóvenes han sido admitidos para cursar estudios en el Diplomado en Servicio al Turismo, que impulsa la Cervecería Nacional de Panamá, la Autoridad de Turismo de Panamá y la Universidad del Trabajo. 
 
Around 542 young panamanians have been admitted in the Tourism Service Certification that is sponsored by Cerveceria Nacional of Panama, the Tourism Authority of Panama and the University of Labor.
 
The project by the slogan of “National Flavor”, and which estimates an investment of one million dollars, will also support the micro-entrepreneurs of Farallon.
 
Itza Barraza, coordinator of the Social Program of Tourism of the Cerveceria, informed that the 10 craftsmen who were benefited, are members of the Cooperativa de Artesanos de Farallon (Craftsmen Cooperative of Farallon) – COOCFAN.
 
‘These craftsmen belong to a group of entrepreneurs who were displaced from their jobs, at the beaches of Farallon and now they can materialize their business ideas and improve their quality of life’, informed Itza Barraza.
 
FAVORED
Among the people benefitted by the promoters, we have Beatriz Villalobos, who has been doing cross-stitch embroidery, shellwork, “tembleques”, fishscales and tin work for several years. Nilsa Caldron also makes “tembleques”, sews and performs knitting and embroidery.
 
The other eight craftsmen work in costume jewelry. They are Luis Vasquez, Iris Trujillo, Gradys Espinoza, Yaribeth Delgado, Neris Trujillo, Estrella Vasquez, Maria Pio and Petra Sanchez.
 
DURATION
 
Barraza added that they are currently in Phase II of Solution Modelling, in which a diagnosis, and a weaknesses and strengths of the micro-entrepreneurs was performed to identify the areas of improvement and how to develop the training agenda in topics such as marketing, finance, sales, service and product quality, among other aspects to be considered.
 
For the students, the first group of the Tourism Service Certification started classes in Panama Downtown, on February 8th. ‘They are currently at the third academic module and their graduation date is scheduled by the end of May’
 
And the first group to started classes in Penonome Downtown on April  4th, is currently at the second academic module, of all four of them.
 
SCOPE
 
Due to the need of qualified workforce in the tourism sector, Barraza explained that the Certification is open to students from the whole country, the only requirement is to reach the closest education center.
 
‘The centers that are operational right now are Penonome, San Miguelito and Central Campus in Panama. Just recently, the option of the Regional Center of the University of Panama in Colon came open.’
 
PROGRAM
 
With ‘National Flavor’, the Cerveceria will train 1,000 panamanians through a certified training with which will lead them to create their own businesses or be able to achieve growth within other businesses.
 
At the same time, somewhere around 60 businesses or micro-entrepreneurs whose main target is the tourism services sector, will receive a complete training, the financing (funds) to ensure the susteinability and growth of their projects.

En la falda de la montaña donde reposa "la India Dormida" existen diversas rocas con símbolos o petroglifos precolombinos. Una de las más famosas de estas expresiones ancestrales es la "Piedra Pintada". Es una enorme roca que se desprendió de las laderas de la montaña, y que cuenta en su cara inferior con diversas marcas o dibujos que llegan a ocupar un tercio de su superficie.

Los lugareños cuentan algunas historias sobre los orígenes de "PIEDRA PINTADA" y narran la interpretación de los símbolos tallados en ellas. Según indican algunos, son un mapa que detalla la geografia de la montaña, con detalles como ríos, pozos y quebradas. Otros consideran que pudo tratarse de algún mapa de comercio. Lo cierto es que los símbolos son un enigma para propios y ajenos, por lo que le atribuyen diversos significados.

La zona cuenta además con hermosos rios, saltos y pozos en los que se puede tomar un baño. Se pueden efectuar sosegados paseos y observar aves, mariposas. Definitivamente un lugar que deben visitar y conocer.

Deportistas y aventureros, encontrarán un espectacular entorno para realizar treking por la India Dormida y podrán vivir la emoción del wet rapel en algunos de los saltos de agua.

Los pozos termales son un atractivos del Valle de Antón, orientado al bienestar, la relajación y la salud.

Proveniente del subsuelo volcánico a 1200 mts. de profundidad, el agua tiene una temperatura de entre 36 y 40 grados centígrados, y es llevada por tuberías desde su nacimiento hasta las piscinas. Esta agua de origen natural tiene una alta concentración de sodio y bicarbonatos (HCO3), y otros compuestos como potasio, calcio, magnesio, sulfatos entre otros minerales. Se le atribuyen propiedades curativas para artritis y enfermedades cutáneas.

El lugar cuenta con un área para aplicar barro mineral en el rostro, además de una piscina, baños de lodo, vestidores, bancas para conversar, pequeños bohíos y algunos juegos para niños. Los fines de semana, se ofrecen servicios de masaje terapéutico.

En el lugar podrán apreciar una muestra de la extensa flora local, entre las que se encuentran el papiro, el bambú, la oreja de elefante, plantas decorativas, y una variedad de flores.

Para el uso de la piscina termal es indispensable tener vestido de baño (bañador).

The “El Nispero” Zoo is located in the outskirts of Cerro Gaital and is approximately 7 acres in size and is fenced by huge topical pine trees. The freshness of its wheather is evident at 1968 feet above sea level.
 
Depending on the tour specifics, your visit will take at least 45 minutes, but your curiosity and admiring of the species and landscape features will most likely extend your tour duration. The zoo is home to around 90 animal species, in addition to an approximate of 180 different trees and plants which are native to this area.
 
Among the animal speciesyou may encounter, you will be able to observe exotic birds from Asia and Africa, such as the golden pheasant (Chrysolophus pictus) and the Royal Palms (white turkey); as well as some tropical species like parrots, macaws and toucans. Monkeys, ocelots, tapirs and an oncilla (Leopardus tigrinus)are just the beginning of a large collection of animals that will amaze adults and children.
 
The zoo has several trails that run around the entire site, embellished by beautiful decorative plants. You can also enjoy the botanical garden or you can just relax, take a time to read, meditate or enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings.
 
“El Nispero” is home to the new Centro de Conservacion de Anfibios de El Valle (Center for the Preservation of Amphibians of El Valle), a center for the study of amphibians, sponsored by the Houston, San Antonio and San Diego zoo parks. The center performs research of the bacteria responsible for the eradication of the golden frog (Atelopus zeteki), among other anphibians, and will work to ensure their survival. It has aquariums, exhibits and a reading and video center in both languages, English and Spanish.
 
For guided tours or large groups, the zoo offers a tour guide, who will provide details regarding the features as well as information on the species that reside in this place.

“Valle Escondido Resort, Golf & Spa” keeps surprising! 
 
Valle Escondido (Hidden Valley) is a marvelous place, with spectacular scenery and top notch service and ambience. Now, it increases its appealing with a brand new minigolf course.
