Santa Catalina is a beach known principally for its natural attractions, with surfers attracted to the very strong waves that are never lower than one meter high, the clarity of its water and the marine reserve found on this beach that permits scuba diving.

"The Use of Scientific Information for the Management and Conservation of Marine Mammals" was the theme of the forum held by the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute.
