World-class tennis in Panama

Starting today, the Fred Maduro sports complex will host the Panama Bowl, an international tennis tournament.

The event awards points towards the world rankings of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

The Panama Bowl is a grade four tournament that will be played on the six clay-surfaced tennis courts in the Fred Maduro complex.

For 12 years this tour has included a stop in Panama, and has a roster of 32 players from 14 to 16 years old, mainly from Europe, Asia, the U.S. and South America.

The matches will be among 100 tennis players from 16 countries, each represented by their best racquet-wielding youth in both male and female categories.

The Mexican Alan Núñez Aguilera (176) and the American Luke Jacob Gamble (296) appear as the top ranked among the males, while the Ecuadorians Rafaela Baquerizo (331) and Rafaela Gómez (337) lead the females.
