Botero paintings in Panama

Major works of art by the master painter and sculptor Fernando Botero will be on display at the First Biennial of the South in Panama "Summoning Worlds", an exhibition that will be open to the public as of April 16, 2013 in the Panama Canal Museum.

These works of art are the latest series done by the Colombian artist and contain 27 oil paintings in different formats and 34 drawings, which were recently exhibited at the Marlborough Gallery in New York City and the Museum of Antioquia in his native city of Medellín.

The purpose of the First Biennial in Panama is to democratize art and culture and give artists a chance to take over the city, by encouraging citizen participation in an ongoing dialogue and interaction with the art world.

This will also be the first time that "The Way of the Cross" will be presented in Central America.

"The Way of the Cross" or "The Passion of Christ", an exhibition that will be shown in Panama, is a much-anticipated event, one of the main attractions of the First Biennial of the South, which will be attended by leading figures in the arts and culture from around the world.
