Panama being promoted as a global arbitration center

Local and international experts are seeking to make the isthmus a hub of arbitration to resolve commercial disputes.

International arbitration specialists will be meeting on February 5th and 6th for a seminar organized by the Panama Conciliation and Arbitration Center (CECAP) to discuss progress and perspectives on the new law of National and International Commercial Arbitration in Panama.

This law regulating domestic and international commercial arbitration was recently passed to bring it up to international standards and be able to compete with the world's major capitals, where up until now major companies have met to resolve their commercial conflicts.

"With its approval, the country is on its way to becoming an International Arbitration Center for Latin America," said CECAP Director Liliana Sánchez.
