Over 20 cruise ships set to sail into Colón in March

More than 20 cruise ships will pull into Panama's port of Colón 2000 in the month of March. The busiest day will be Friday, March 8 when the giant ship Equinox of the Celebrity Cruises line will arrive at Terminal 1 with over 3,000 passengers aboard. That same day, at Terminal 2, Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas will pull out of port carrying more than 2,500 passengers. The Equinox will return to port on the 29th, and Vision of the Seas will be making weekly departures from its home port every Friday of that month, bound for Cartagena, Aruba, and Curaçao. The 2013 to 2014 cruise season has 135 ships scheduled to land in Panama.

The highlight of this month is the arrival of the cruiser Wind Spirit to Colón from March 9 to 23. On the itinerary of this luxury cruise ship, with 73 cabins, 148 passengers, and 90 crew members, are a trip across the canal, a visit to the island of Coiba, and a stop at the ports of Costa Rica.

In the year 2013, a total of 373,505 passengers disembarked cruises in Panamanian ports and injected U.S. $43.7 million into the country's economy.
