Penonomé, surrounded by legends, tells three stories about the origin of her name. The first narrates that a cacique named “Nome” suffered a death penalty when the princess he loved, the second says that the cacique was tortured by Spaniards until his death and that his tombstone said “Aquí penó Nomé,” and the last one assures that the name of the cacique was “Be Nu Nomé.”
Located near the Pacific coasts and its beautiful beaches, Penonomé is a site with impressive natural and cultural attractions and a rich history of folklore.
